Although three months have been passed since the devastating earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan, hundreds of thousand people are still living in the rescue camps and having difficulties rebuilding their lives. It will take months and years to get their life back.
A week after the disaster, Kikuichi announced that we would support the disaster relief by donating our entire income from our sales over the next 3 months.Our effort and support however will be wrapping up June 30^th, 2011
If you have not yet had a chance to make a financial contribution to support the relief efforts, you can donate to any of the following organizations which offer aid to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan:

Well i have been very busy these last few weeks so i have alot to blog about!
I should have kept up with all this mobile technology i carry around with me, but alas its still takes energy
Lets start with my knife tour to Japan sponsored by Kikuichi Company .

Over 700 years of solid and reputable history of cutlery making distinguish Kikuichi from all other cutlery companies in the world. Although Kikuichi has been producing superior cutlery for more than a hundred fifty years, the origins of the company spans back some seven hundred years ago. For the most of the company’s history, Kikuichi manufactured fine Samurai swords that bore the emperor’s Chrysanthemum symbol as a mark of their excellence. Today, Kikuichi’s ancestor’s swords are considered national treasures in Japan.

I have to give it to Kikuichi for promoting a fascinating tour!

They went all out to provide us with

so many interesting aspects of the japanese knife market and culture.

The knife making alone was worth the trip 6760 miles.

As you can see in the photos it was a hands on experience. Every vendor built a japanese style knife from scratch,a piece of iron!

We started at the forge to melt and pound out a japanese piece of iron.

It took us 2 days to create a knife.

Check out this new show on Food Network 24 Hour Restaurant Battle ,Hosted by renowned chef Scott Conant (chef and owner of Scarpetta and Faustina at The Cooper Square Hotel), each episode of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle features dueling two-person teams of aspiring restaurateurs who have 24 hours to conceive, plan and open their own restaurants for one night. You will catch the contestants choose and purchase supplies for there kitchens right here at Bowery Kitchen Supply. You will see our wonderful store in action and see what you might need for your kitchen at the same time. Of course it would be more fun if you visited us personally, you might get to chat with Robyn as well.

You can also see Emeril at Bowery Kitchen Supplies when he comes down from his studio to buy some new gadgets for the dishes he is planning
on cooking live! Check out the video , he made a very simple deliscous spaetzel ( german pasta ) with flour and water . Of course he uses one of our unique tools "the spatzle asse"

Just a side note , emeril loved robyns description of the large immersion blender as a "mac daddy of boat motors" off air that he used it on the clip himself ! robyn wants you to know !bam !!
